Fraud & Security Center

If something feels off, hang up and call us.

(978) 922-5254 — a real person at 139 Cabot Street. We will never call, text, or email you asking for a password, PIN, or one-time code.

Current alerts for the North Shore

Active: callers posing as credit union fraud staff asking for one-time passcodes. Legitimate fraud teams never need your code — that code is the theft. Posted Jun 10, 2026
Watch for: fake package-delivery texts with links asking you to "verify" card details. Delivery services don't collect payment by text. Posted May 28, 2026

How to spot a scam

Urgency

"Act now or your account will be closed." Real institutions give you time and a phone number you can verify independently.

Secrecy

"Don't tell anyone at the branch." Anyone who asks you to keep a money move secret from your credit union is stealing from you.

Odd payment methods

Gift cards, wire transfers to strangers, crypto ATMs. No legitimate bill or agency is paid in gift cards. Ever.

If fraud happens: your first hour

  1. Call us

    (978) 922-5254 during business hours. Lost or stolen card after hours: use the number on the back of your card statement.

  2. Freeze your card

Use card controls in the mobile app to freeze your debit card instantly while we investigate.

  3. Document everything

Save texts, emails, and phone numbers. Report scams to reportfraud.ftc.gov.

Our promise, in writing

Beverly Credit Union will never contact you to ask for your password, PIN, full card number, or a one-time passcode. If anyone does — no matter how official the caller ID looks — hang up and call (978) 922-5254.
